Press Release Summary: WordClick 1.0 BETA is a small downloadable application that enables Internet users to initiate web searches by simply mouse-clicking on any word in a web page or email message
Press Release Body: New York, NY - March 22, 2006 - WordClick LCC, developer of the new patent-pending Click-to-Search technology, today announced the release of WordClick 1.0 BETA (demo now available at www.wordclick.com ). The revolutionary new downloadable software application provides an easier and more efficient method for Internet users to quickly get results from their favorite search engines, including Google, Yahoo!, MSN, Ask, eBay, Amazon, Wikipedia, Dictionary.com and many others.
WordClick users are able to initiate search queries by simply clicking (alt-clicking or double-clicking) on any word (or set of words) within a webpage or email. Since the user can only point its mouse at a single area of one word, and many desired search terms include multiple words, WordClick automatically recognizes when a string of words should be taken together to form the desired query. For instance keywords such as, 'Britney Spears', 'Philip Seymour Hoffman' or 'XX Winter Olympics' are recognized as a multiple-word search term and the appropriate results are returned.
Currently when a fairly sophisticated Internet user wants to perform a search for a word they see in a webpage or email, they must either (i) copy the word to the clipboard, (ii) open a browser window, (iii) paste the text into their favorite search engine, and (iv) then click the search button to access results. For less sophisticated users, the alternative includes opening a browser window and manually retyping the (potentially long) search term into a web interface.
WordClick reduces this multiple step process to a single user input action. When a user hovers its mouse over a keyword that they want to search for, the words are visibly transformed into a 'searchlink', which when clicked (or double clicked), returns results from the search engine the user configured for either action. Results are displayed in a new browser window, which can be set to launch in the foreground or background.
Users can set the speed at which words are transformed into searchlinks when hovering their mouse, and choose their favorite search engine or online service to retrieve results for both single-click and double-click actions. Currently there are over a dozen 'search targets' available for end users to choose from, including MSN, Yahoo, Google, eBay, Amazon.com, MapQuest, Dictionary.com, Wickapedia and many others. The goal of the company is to eventually offer easy access to hundreds of different search result sources.
The free WordClick downloadable application does not contain any so called adware, spyware or malware, and does not collect any personal information whatsoever. Users can download WordClick 1.0 for free at www.wordclick.com or find it bundled with a growing number of popular software applications and games.
